Greenpass: Become a climate planner in three days

Studies on climate hazards are time-consuming and expensive. The Viennese company Greenpass therefore trains you in three days to become a climate planner.

Heat islands, heavy rain and corona. When it comes to climate-friendly planning, planners currently faces many hurdles. The Austrian company Greenpass has developed software that enables cities and municipalities to quickly gain an overview of potential climate hazards for construction projects. Even without a complex climate study.

Climate adaptation as a service

With its software, the Viennese start-up Greenpass supports architects and urban planners in climate-optimized planning. Depending on the phase, planning can be carried out at the district or component level using a toolbox. "For example, I can add a façade greening and then have the effects simulated," says Greenpass CEO Florian Kraus in an interview.

The simulations are carried out using a world-leading technique for microclimate simulations and are constantly being optimized through machine learning (still in the beta phase). "Ultimately I can compare different scenarios," says Kraus. You can view different scenarios depending on heat, water, air, biodiversity and costs. The implementation takes two to four weeks.

Become an urban climate architect

In order to make these advantages accessible to the widest possible range of users, the Greenpass team has developed a tailor-made online course for planners and (landscape) architects, the "GREENPASS®Urban Climate Architect (UCA) Training". With the help of the online training, urban planners and architects can learn from their own (home) office how to adapt their planning to the consequences of climate change and optimise its effectiveness with the help of the Greenpass tools.

After successful completion of the training and a pilot project phase, participants can become partners of Greenpass. As partners, they can offer the services independently on the market. More than 30 planning offices from Germany and abroad have already completed the training course in the last 1.5 years and have expanded their range of services. The first Greenpass online training for English-speaking partners was successfully completed in mid-April. The first online training for partners in the DACH region will now follow in German from 8 to 10 July.

Who wants to be part of it can apply for the EarlyBird-Ticket today (26.06.20) until midnight.
